It is very important that you carefully read and understand our terms and conditions as by using our website and purchasing any products you are agreeing to them.

These terms will form part of your agreement with The Backpacker, and the words used below have the following meanings:

“You”, “Your”, “Individual”, “Customer” – All persons looking to or have purchased through our website
“The Backpacker”, “Us”, “We”, “Our” – refers to Adlington Barnstaple Ltd trading as The Backpacker

These terms and conditions may be changed at any time without notice, and we therefore recommend that you check these each time you revisit the site.

1. Prices

Goods will only be dispatched once we have received cleared payment. We accept all major credit and debit cards, with all payments being processed through a third party organisation called Stripe. Any payments will appear on your bank statement as “The Backpacker”.

The Backpacker reserve the right to cancel any orders where pricing errors have occurred without notice.

2. Products

We have made every effort to ensure all products being sold are represented truthfully and to the best of our ability. All descriptions, dimensions and images are published as accurately as possible. However, it is important to note that at times, the product could differ slightly to that shown / detailed. An example of this could be the colour of a bag provided on our website is slightly different because of the monitor you are using.

3. Delivery

Once your order has been processed you will receive an email confirming your items have been sent. We aim to dispatch all orders ordered before 3pm the same day from Monday to Friday, but during busier times this cannot be guaranteed.

Our delivery pricing is dependent on your chosen delivery method, delivery destination, total order value and item weight. Please refer to our delivery details page for further information. 

The delivery timescales provided on product pages and on our delivery details page are estimates provided by the courier company. Whilst the courier will make every effort to deliver your order within the timescales detailed, the estimated delivery times quoted cannot be guaranteed.

If you have chosen and paid for an expedited delivery service, your order will be sent using that method. Please note, as the timescales are not guaranteed, We will not be liable for any loss caused to you by late delivery over the estimated times provided and a refund of the stated delivery fees cannot be provided.

You are responsbile for ensuring all names and delivery addresses are correct at the time of placing the order. Although We will do our best to make any amendments after the order has been placed, this cannot be guaranteed. We will not be responsbile for any orders being shipped to the incorrect address and it will be down to You to try and make alternative arrangements.

Non Delivery

It is your responsibility to notify us if the goods have not been received within 21 days of the estimated delivery date. If we do not receive any notification within this time period, the buyer shall be deemed to have received the goods.

4. Returns

If for whatever reason you are not happy with your product, you can return it to us for a refund. For further details about our refund process and how to request a return, please click here.

Please be aware that you are responsbile for any returned items until it has reached us. With this in mind, we recommend using a secure delivery method that requires tracking or signature upon receipt.

Any items being returned to The Backpacker must be returned in the same condition as first delivered. All goods must be unused and in their original packaging with any tags and / or labels still attached. We reserve the right to refuse any returns that do not meet this criteria or are returned outside of the 90 day window. If a return cannot be accepted by us, we will contact you to arrange for the item(s) to be sent back to your address at your own expense. Any refused returns that cannot be accepted to your address will be disposed of by us after 30 days of storage.

If you return an incorrect item to us, we will endeavour to locate the parcel and return it to you, at your expense. However, on some occasion this may not be possible. Please note that we cannot accept liability for any returns delivered to us that were not intended for us and we will not be able to compensate for the loss of these items. Any items incorrectly delivered to us that cannot be returned will be disposed of after 30 days of storage.

Faulty items

Our products are inspected and packaged to ensure they arrive in good condition. However, in the rare event that an item arrives damaged or with defects then please follow our returns procedure outlined here. In this circumstance, we will pay you the cost of the return postage. Please obtain a proof of posting certificate from your Post Office to enable us to process the refund for your return postage costs.

5. Warranty 

All products come with a limited manufacturers warranty, with the period of cover differing per item. Warranty guarantees are not valid against normal wear and tear caused by use of the product. 

If Your product develops a fault during the warranty period, then You should get in touch to start the claims process. You will need to complete our warranty claim form and also send photos of the faulty product.

If the manufacture is able to offer a repair, then you will be required to send the item back to Our warehouse or directly to the repair centre - this will be dictated by the brands individual process. You will be responsbile for any costs for sending the item back.

If the manufacture is unable to offer a repair, then a replacement item, discount or refund may be offered.

6. Cancellations

We will try to complete all cancellation requests before the time of the order’s dispatch, although we cannot always guarantee this. Once items have been dispatched, we are not able to cancel your order and we would recommend following our returns process as detailed here.

We reserve the right to cancel any order without notice that are subject to pricing errors, stock issues or quality control issues.

7. Taxes on international orders

When ordering from outside of the United Kingdom, there may be taxes, fees or other charges that you may be liable for. Please check with your local customs office before the order is placed to confirm any additional charges, as these charges vary from country to country and is something outside of our control.

If for whatever reason any local import and custom charges are refused or not paid by you, then the item could be returned to us or possibly destroyed. If your item is returned to us, we would not be able to refund any original postage costs and any refunds due will be less any charges imposed on us by the delivery company. If your order is not returned to us, we will not be able to refund your order. 

8. Promotional codes and offers

If you have a valid promotional code then you can enter this during the checkout process to receive the discount. Only one promotional code can be used per order. 

Promotional codes are subject to change and can be withdrawn at any time. We do not accept promotional codes encouraging repeat custom if you cancel your original order.

At times, some of our products may offer a free item along side ordering a product. This free item is subject to availability and ordering the said product doe snot guarantee the customer the free item. Should any products ordered with an attached free item be requested to returned, the free item must also be returned.

9. Copyright

The materials on our website may not be used for any other purpose without prior written permission from The Backpacker. Copying or printing of any images or other materials is only permitted for the sole purpose of placing an order with us.

The Backpacker will undertake to handle a complaint fairly and competently. We will keep you informed at each stage and will endeavour to fully resolve your complaint as quickly as possible – normally within 72 hours.
